Members Of Deca Club Qualify For Conference

The following Coeur d’Alene High School DECA members were recently qualified to represent Idaho at the National DECA Career Development conference in Florida next month: Pat Krapfl, Chris Towery, Tony Heimann, Andy Doerr, Steve Pilkington, Mike Waggoner, Nick Carlino, Ryan Liverman, Nic Lowry, Jenny Vredenburg, Dave Scammell, Kyra Beamis, Mike Sheaman, Kim Pearson, Matt Scammell, Nathan Beach, Trisha Seccombe and Carter Copeland.

The students each took a common core test designed to measure economic understanding, a walk-on activity and an occupational test in a field of interest.

Over 400 Idaho DECA members, including 45 from Coeur d’Alene High School, attended the Idaho State DECA Career Development Conference last month in Boise.

The DECA Program is designed for students interested in the field of marketing and covers topics in advertising, human relations, selling, display, communications, job interviewing and practical job skills.

Barb Tucker, was selected as the Kootenai Medical Center’s Employee of the Month for March.

Tucker, a social worker, was chosen because of her performance as a patient advocate, dedication to patients and their families, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and hard work.

Josephine Webb, a member of the North Idaho College Foundation board of directors, was recently named Volunteer of the Year by Region X of the National Council for Resource Development.

She was honored for her volunteer work in helping direct the NIC Foundation. She was one of the organization’s founders.

Jason Patten, a cadet stationed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., has been named to the Dean’s List for academic excellence with a 3.0 or better grade-point average.

Patten is the son of Rick and Kathy Patten of Coeur d’Alene.
