A landlord looking for a leaky pipe found four children in a littered, roach-infested apartment who were left behind when their parents traveled to Haiti, authorities said Friday.
The siblings - a 4-year-old girl and boys ages 6, 7 and 10 - were in underwear, shivering on a bed.
Police called to the Brooklyn home found trash, broken TVs and busted toys on the floor, and a virtually empty refrigerator.
Police said the children’s mother had gone to Haiti on Jan. 4, followed by her husband on March 27. The children told police a family friend sometimes stopped by with food or slept overnight.
The children were placed in the custody of the city’s child-welfare agency while police tried to contact the parents.
