Inmates Riot, Set Fires At French Prison
About 300 inmates took over a prison near the eastern city of Dijon on Sunday, setting fires that gutted part of the compound before riot police moved in and regained control.
At least two prisoners were injured during the police assault. Another had suffered heart trouble and was evacuated earlier, French radio reported.
Before the police assault, relatives of inmates massed outside the prison. Many threw stones at riot police preparing their assault, injuring two of them, France-Info reported.
