Forest Service Facility Vandalized

From Staff And Wire Reports

Detectives from Moscow and the FBI are searching for a man who vandalized a U.S. Forest Service research facility during the weekend, trashing offices and tossing computers.

Potentially at risk were years of forest genetics and soil research computer data stored at the Forest Service’s Intermountain Research Station.

Research scientists, office staff and police officers put early estimates of the hardware damage at $15,000.

“At this point in time it doesn’t appear that somebody came after data, but I don’t know for sure,” said administrator Andy Lawrence. “He walked into an area and just wiped desks clean. He dumped everything on the floor.”
