Snow Sport Report

Compiled By Vince Dice

Alpine skiing

Unless you want to fly to the blizzard-riddled Northeast, your skiing options are quickly becoming limited. Schweitzer and Mission Ridge closed last weekend, joining Mt. Spokane, Silver, Lookout and most other Washington and Idaho resorts. Montana’s Big Mountain is also closed for the season.

Idaho’s Brundage Mountain expects to close this weekend, but will “celebrate” the event with their Crazy Days bash Saturday and Sunday. The event features reduced lift tickets ($15 adults, $10 kids 7-12), races, jump contests and treasure hunts. Info: (800) 888-7544.

Go east, young man, to Montana. Big Sky is open until Sunday. The resort has limited some operations, and is offering reduced $35 lift tickets.

Nordic skiing

Almost nobody is grooming, but Methow Valley and Republic Ranger District still say they have decent backcountry conditions. It may be time to dust off your mountain bikes.

Snowmobiling

A soft roadbed has temporarily closed the Snow Creek Winter Recreation Area south of Bonners Ferry.

(This is the final snow sport report.)
