Idaho Insurer Adds Claims Center

Medical Service Bureau of Idaho/ Blue Shield of Idaho will add a new claims processing center and add up to 30 jobs over the remainder of the year.

The claims center will be a state-of-the-art facility located within the Blue Shield headquarters in Lewiston, said Georganne Benjamin, manager of corporate communications.

MSB-Blue Shield of Idaho is a member of the Benchmark Group, a group of health insurance companies in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. The group saves money by working together and providing regional marketing opportunities for the members.

The new claims center will process only claims from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Oregon, Benjamin said. The new center was created from the affiliation with the Benchmark group.

Other members of the group include King County Medical Blue Shield of Seattle and Pierce County Medical Bureau Inc. of Tacoma.

Any costs created by the new center will be paid by Blue Shield members of Oregon, and not members in Idaho. MSB-Blue Shield of Idaho employs 310 people in Lewiston and 350 in Idaho.
