Elway Signs Five-Year Deal

Compiled From Wire Services

John Elway signed a five-year, $29.5 million contract with the Denver Broncos. Before the agreement was finalized, the 35-year-old Elway had one year left on a four-year, $18.6 million agreement.

The Patriots signed Buffalo linebacker Monty Brown to an offer sheet, New England coach Bill Parcells said. The Bills have the right to match the offer for Brown, a restricted free agent.

Greg Lloyd said he is giving the Pittsburgh Steelers until July 1 to make him the NFL’s highest-paid linebacker, or he will become a free agent after the season.
