Pipeline Project Ahead Of Schedule

From Staff And Wire Reports

Pacific Gas Transmission Co.’s pipeline replacement project is ahead of schedule and the dates for the final steps of the project have been set, the company said Wednesday.

An 80-foot-section of Boekel Road will be closed for a week about a half-mile east of state Highway 41. The last segment of about a mile of underground natural gas pipeline is being replaced there and the road will be repaired.

Putting the pipeline back into service involves “venting” the line, where existing natural gas must be removed before the new pipe gets connected.

Company officials say residents near Boekel Road will be able to hear the venting for about an hour at 7 a.m. this Friday. It’s a safe, common procedure that sounds like a big whoosh, said Susan Meyer of the company.

Later in the day Friday, another whooshing noise will be created for about 15 minutes when gas is put back into the new line. , DataTimes
