Idaho Teenager Injured In Crash

A 17-year-old St. Maries resident was listed in fair condition at Kootenai Medical Center Saturday after suffering head injuries in a head-on collision Friday on Highway 95.

Martin Taarnhoj was a passenger in a car driven by James McAndrew, 17, also of St. Maries, when the accident occurred at 5:45 p.m. Friday.

McAndrew was passing another vehicle on Highway 95 at Fighting Creek store when a pickup driven by Larry Christen, 39, of Spokane pulled out from the store parking lot and turned south, police said.

Christen’s pickup collided head on with McAndrew’s Ford Mustang.

Taarnhoj was in surgery at KMC with severe head injuries at 9 p.m. Friday, according to the Idaho State Police. McAndrew was treated and released from the hospital.

The ISP cited Christen for failing to yield.
