Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Bust
A traffic stop this week led authorities to raid a Valley, Wash., home where state troopers discovered marijuana plants worth an estimated $47,000.
Darren M. Nelson, 24, of 3011 Farm to Market Road, was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, and on three outstanding felony warrants.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Dave Fenn stopped Nelson at 4 p.m. Monday after seeing Nelson fail to signal and because he wasn’t wearing a seat belt on U.S. Highway 395 near Clayton.
Nelson initially gave a false name and Fenn discovered evidence of a marijuana grow operation in his car.
As a result, troopers obtained a search warrant and raided Nelson’s home and seized 42 live plants and 52 starter plants.
