Tarrah Brown Colville Year: Sophomore Sport: Softball Position: Pitcher

West Valley and East Valley have been at the front of the Frontier League’s softball ranks for years.

But the Colville Indians are challenging the league’s elite this year. And a lot of that has to do with the pitching of Tarrah Brown.

Brown threw a no-hitter and struck out 10 in the first game of a Frontier League softball doubleheader as Colville swept East Valley 4-1 and 6-2 Saturday at EV.

Brown followed with a one-hitter in the second game.

Her no-hitter was her third of the season and boosted her record to 7-3.

Colville improved to 8-2, while East Valley fell to 5-4.

“Our goal is to make it to districts and then take that a step further and go to state,” Brown, a 15-year-old sophomore said.

As for her mastery on the mound, she deflected any individual praise to her teammates.

“Our defense is really good. It’s easy to relax and pitch knowing that they can back me up.”

The Indians coach is Clyde Brown who is Tarrah’s father. He has been instrumental in her development since she starting pitching at around the age of seven.

“She is a really hard worker,” Clyde Brown said. “She’s always been willing to learn and that has helped her get better over the years.” , DataTimes ILLUSTRATION: Photo
