Girl Dies When Car Rolls Into Lake

Compiled From Wire Services

A 5-year-old girl drowned and her younger brother was critically injured Thursday after they were trapped in the back seat of a car that rolled down a boat ramp into the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

The boy’s father, Edwin Crisp, 33, of Vancouver, British Columbia, told authorities the car accidentally rolled into the water when he and the children’s mother put it in neutral and got out to push it up to the road.

Crisp was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and booked into the county jail, sheriff’s Lt. Chris Garden said. Police have ordered a blood-alcohol test on Crisp, he said.

The 5-year-old girl who died was identified as Breanna Ashley Sharon Eagle, Coroner Robert Bishop said.

Her 3-year-old brother was taken to Children’s Hospital in Seattle, where he was in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said. He was not immediately identified.
