Woman Sent To Jail For Murdering Maid

An appeals court has sentenced a woman to 10 years in jail for murdering her maid who had refused to clean the house, the Arab Times reported Thursday.

The paper did not give the names or nationalities of the convicted woman and her victim. It said the ruling had been announced Tuesday.

The woman reportedly pushed the maid down a staircase and then burned her with hot water.

Physical abuse of maids is rampant in this oil-rich state. Thousands of maids from Asian countries have fled their employers and have sought shelter in their countries’ embassies.
