Simpson Paper Cuts Deal With Fox River

From Staff And Wire Reports

Simpson Paper Co. is selling its business that produces premium printing and writing papers, including two paper mills, to Fox River Paper Co.

Simpson had announced in January that it would seek purchasers for the text and cover business, along with some other assets, so it could focus on its pulp and paper business. A letter of intent has been signed with Appleton, Wis.-based Fox River, Simpson said Friday.

The two mills in the deal are in Ripon, Calif., and Vicksburg, Mich., and employ a total of 551 people.
