Dollar Loses Vs. Yen
The dollar finished lower against the Japanese yen on Monday, with traders confident the Bank of Japan wouldn’t step in on a national holiday to stop the fall.
The dollar has been soft against the yen since Friday when a newspaper report that the Bank of Japan would raise interest rates sent the dollar lower, despite official denials.
With the BOJ on holiday Monday, traders thought they could sell off the dollar without worrying about the bank intervening to support the buck to make Japanese export prices more competitive.
