Rookie Bids For Major

Compiled From Wire Services

Karrie Webb, a 21-year-old Aussie, is playing her first year on the LPGA tour and already she has won two tournaments and more than $500,000, more money than anybody else.

Her two victories this year came in Florida - the HealthSouth Inaugural in January and the Sprint Titleholders in May. Now she goes after the du Maurier Classic, the final major of the LPGA season.

She will be tested beginning today by two Swedes - Annika Sorenstam, the U.S. Open winner, and Liselotte Neumann, a three-time winner in 1996.
