Man Charged In Mail Bombings

Associated Press

A jobless music lover who gave himself the pen name “Rock” and “The Messiah” was arrested Thursday on charges he mailed nine bombs last year to television stations, a newspaper and post offices.

None of the mailed explosive devices were detonated, although a 10th bomb blew up a curbside mailbox. No one was injured.

Daniel Paul Evans, 54, faces an Aug. 15 arraignment on nine counts of possessing an explosive device, one count of arson and one count of possessing material to construct a bomb.

If convicted, Evans faces more than 70 years in prison.
