Injury May Keep Dallas’ Novacek Out For The Season

Tight end Jay Novacek, Troy Aikman’s favorite target in short-yardage situations, is not recovering from back problems and could miss the entire NFL season, another blow to the already injury-ravaged Dallas Cowboys.

Novacek, 33, suffers from a degenerative disk in his lower back on which he had surgery in 1988 as a member of the Phoenix Cardinals.

Harbaugh signs four-year contract

Indianapolis signed quarterback Jim Harbaugh to a new deal worth $13 million over four years that included a $4 million signing bonus.

Ex-cop pleads guilty in Irvin plot

Another chapter in the sordid scandal surrounding Michael Irvin ended with former Dallas policeman Johnnie Hernandez admitting he plotted to have the Cowboys’ star killed. Hernandez, 28, received a six-year prison term in exchange for his guilty plea.
