Man Suffers Gunshot Wound; Four Held For Questioning

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man suffered a minor gunshot wound Friday night at a Spokane Valley home.

Four other men were detained for questioning. No arrests had been made late Friday. “At this point, we don’t know what the shooting was about,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Bruce Matthews said.

Deputies were called to 4915 E. Third after a report of a shooting about 8:40 p.m.

They found the 30-year-old victim, whose identity wasn’t released, in the home’s basement and learned that four Hispanic men might have been involved in the shooting.

Meanwhile, Spokane police driving by the East Sprague United Furniture Warehouse spotted four Hispanic men outside.

The men tried to throw a bag of powdered cocaine under a Jeep and escape, but officers caught them, Police Sgt. Scott Stephens said.

Authorities think these men were involved in the shooting, just blocks away.
