Compiled From Wire Services

A private plane flying over the Grand Canyon during a thunderstorm crashed and burned Friday, killing one person as dozens of tourists looked on.

The plane, a Mooney 20, was en route from Torrance, Calif., to Colby, Kan., and was at 21,000 feet when it lost radar contact. Investigators said the pilot had told controllers he was deviating around the weather.
