An officer saw a Dodge Dakota speed through a red light and began to follow it.

The pickup ran a second red light, then struck three cars that were stopped at a third light.

The driver of one of the cars, a 34-year-old man, was killed. His name was not immediately released.

The woman driver of the pickup and a 12-year-old boy who was riding with her were injured. Two women in one of the other cars were also hurt.

All were being treated at Harborview Medical Center.
