Acer Introduces Inexpensive Pc

From Staff And Wire Reports

Acer America Corp. on Tuesday began selling a personal computer for just under $1,000, becoming the second major PC maker to offer a model at that price.

Acer’s Back to School Aspire is aimed at college students and families with children in school. The price does not include a monitor.

The machine, which comes in the emerald and charcoal casing that has distinguished Acer PCs for a year, uses an IBM 100 MHz microprocessor, 8 megabytes of main memory and a 1-gigabyte hard drive.
