Ins: It’s Ear Today Or Gone Tomorrow Man Faces Deportation Over Bad Photo

A Payette man has a problem of “lobal” proportions, concerned the federal government might deport him because of his ears.

William “Scotty” Brack is a legal alien who has lived here for about 25 years. Brack, who still speaks with the brogue of his native Scotland, works as a long-haul trucker with his wife, Murleen.

In January, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service told him he must renew his green card, the document allowing aliens to stay in the country.

He had a photograph taken, as required.

But last month, the Bracks were notified by the agency that if they did not receive a picture of him that showed his ears by July 31, he should get ready to leave for Scotland.

Alan Puckett, acting director of the regional Immigration and Naturalization district, said the photograph had to be redone for security regulations: no two people’s ears are the same.

Brack had another picture taken with the right angle to show the ears.

“I work hard and don’t leech off the system,” Brack said. “I’ve been investigated by the FBI and allowed to adopt five children and now they want to deport me because of my ears,” he said.

“I’m no Bing Crosby, you know.”
