Cda Entry Captures Idaho’s Class B Softball Crown
Coeur d’Alene’s Sunset Bar/Sports Cellar battled through the loser’s bracket Saturday to win the Class B Idaho state softball tournament.
The winners advance to nationals, along with Tealey’s of Boise, the city that hosted the state tournament.
Sunset Bar/Sports Cellar defeated Tealey’s in the first title game 21-15 and then won 19-4 in a run-rule-shortened game to earn the title.
Darren Taylor, one of five Sunset Bar/Sports Cellar players to hit .700 or better in the tournament, won MVP honors.
Slackman wins State Amateur
Spokane’s Darren Slackman, a junior at the University of Washington, fired a 1-over-par 73 and won the Washington State Men’s Amateur golf tournament by four strokes over Chris Lohman.
Slackman finished his four rounds over the 6,792-yard Indian Summer Golf and Country Club course in Lacey, Wash., with a 1-over-par 289.
