Emergency Landing For Jet

Associated Press

A Delta Air Lines 727 made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy Airport on Wednesday after one of its three engines lost power shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport.

Meanwhile, a Queens man said a piece of engine from a Delta plane had fallen onto his driveway and he assumed it came from the plane that was making the emergency landing. A Delta spokesman said that was impossible.

Shortly after Flight 801 took off for Tampa, Fla., about 7:20 p.m. with 132 passengers on board, the pilot saw that one engine had no power and abnormal oil pressure, Delta spokesman Bill Berry said.

Anthony Conti, who said he has worked as a crew chief at American Airlines for 20 years, said he heard a strange noise as a plane passed over his house.
