Steve Krohn Priest River, Idaho

No service will be held for Stephen Blair “Steve” Krohn, 47. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Krohn, who died Saturday at home, was born in Oakland.

He had lived in North Idaho for the last 12 years, moving to Priest River in 1990. He worked in real estate sales.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Irene Krohn; his mother, Antonette Wallahan of Corvallis, Ore.; and two sisters, Renee Gillette of Campbell, Calif., and Linda Swaney of Philomath, Ore.

Margaret Berg Spokane

Visitation for Margaret W. Berg, 86, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 18 at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Manito Presbyterian Church with burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Berg, who was born in Endicott, Wash., died Saturday.

She graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and attended Kelsey Baird Secretarial School. She worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for more than 20 years as a service representative.

She was a 68-year Spokane resident and was a member of Manito Presbyterian Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Maurice Berg; and a daughter, Catherine Berg at home.

Evelyn Lovitt Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Evelyn M. Lovitt, 94, will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’Alene. Inurnment will follow at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lovitt, who was born in Michigan, died Aug. 7.

She moved to North Idaho with her family in 1904 and graduated from Spirit Lake High School. She went on to graduate from Lewiston Normal School and taught school for many years in the area.

Mrs. Lovitt was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.

Survivors include a son, Bob Lovitt of Utah; one daughter, Shirley Lovitt of Ephrata, Wash.; a brother, Jim Cleland, and sister, Mary Lou Cleland, both of Seattle; five grandchildren, Shari, Steve, Jon, Kimberly and Darrin; and five great-grandchildren.

Amy Decker Coeur d’Alene

Vigil service for Amy Linda Decker, 21, will be held today at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Decker, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Monday from injuries received in an automobile accident in Superior, Mont.

She was a lifetime Coeur d’Alene resident, where she attended schools and was attending North Idaho College working toward a degree in forestry.

Ms. Decker recently was employed at Puffer Belly’s Day Care.

Survivors include her mother and father, Lynette Decker of Coeur d’Alene and Robert Decker of Prichard, Idaho; one sister, Anna Decker of Coeur d’Alene; a foster sister, Sherri Moore of Coeur d’Alene; one stepsister, Dusty Dionne of Coeur d’Alene; her grandparents, Connie and Jack Prosser of Coeur d’Alene, and Jack and Lillian Lind of Oregon; her stepmother, Jackie Decker; and her stepfather to-be, Bill Ohlfs.

Milton ‘Milt’ Johnson Samuels, Idaho

Visitation for Milton J. “Milt” Johnson, 68, will be at Coffelt Funeral Home in Sandpoint this afternoon until 5 p.m. Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson, who was born in Montana, died Sunday.

He graduated from high school in Montana and went on to serve with the Army Air Force as a tower operator following World War II.

He worked for a glass company and as a mechanic before moving to Sandpoint in 1952 to become a logger. He moved to Thompson Falls, Mont., in 1955 and worked in the timber industry before returning to the Sandpoint area and settling in Samuels near the Pack River in 1967. He owned and operated Buck and Edna’s Tavern in Pack River.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 589.

Survivors include his wife, Marian of Samuels; one daughter, Carla Johnson of Samuels; three sons, Daniel of Samuels, Wayne of Colburn, Idaho, and Eric of Alaska; two sisters, Lorraine Naylor of Spokane and Patty Hoekema of Sultan, Wash.; a brother, Clifford Johnson of Samuels; and two grandchildren, Violet and Shila.

Arthur Leisle Ritzville, Wash.

Service for Arthur Leisle, 74, was Monday at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville. Burial was at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Leisle, a longtime Ritzville resident, died Friday at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane. He was born in Menno, Wash.

He graduated from Ritzville High School and went to work at the Ford Garage in Ritzville in 1941.

He served in the Army during World War II and received a Bronze Star for holding back his men while he went alone through a mine field to rescue two wounded soldiers. He served in the 362nd Medical Detachment of the 91st Armored Division. He was discharged in 1945.

Mr. Leisle returned to the Ford Garage after the war, and worked as a mechanic.

In 1947, he married Pauline Winter in Odessa, Wash. She died in 1995.

He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and served 10 years as the church custodian. He was also a member of the Ritzville Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years.

Survivors include three sons, Alton Leisle of Davenport, Wash., Dwight Leisle of Manchester, Wash., and Duane Leisle of Bull Head, Ariz; two daughters, Linda Borders of Post Falls and Sandy Heimbigner of Mohler, Wash.; three sisters, Lydia Greenwalt, Alma Ferderer and Gloria Gilliland, all of Ritzville; a brother, Aaron Leisle of Walla Walla; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Foundation.

Loren Eden Valleyford

Memorial service for Loren H. Eden, 64, was Wednesday at Menno Mennonite Church in Ritzville, Wash. Burial was at Menno Mennonite Cemetery in Ritzville. An additional memorial service was Wednesday at Valley Fourth Memorial Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Eden, who died Sunday, was born in Lind, Wash.

He graduated from Lindberg High School in Lind.

He was a 60-year resident of Valleyford, and was a farmer and raised cattle.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Viola Eden; and two brothers, Richard Eden of Post Falls and Vernon Eden of Valleyford.
