Sound Telecom To Open Call Center

From Staff And Wire Reports

Another call center is making its way to Spokane.

Sound Telecom, headquartered in Issaquah, will expand its operations to Spokane on Sept. 3 when it opens a national call center on the ninth floor of the Bon Building downtown.

Michael LaBaw, president of the company, says it will initially hire 15 people in Spokane, with plans to hire 85 more within two years.

The operation will serve Sound Telecom’s business-to-business customers providing a range of telephone answering services that include voice mail in both English and Spanish, order taking, paging, cellular service, long distance service and dispatching.

LaBaw said his company selected Spokane as an expansion site based on quality of life, work force availability and competitive lease rates.

Other companies that have opened call centers here in recent years include the Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae), Dakota Direct. Inc., Egghead Software, The Principal Financial Group, Seafirst Credit Card Services and The Guardian.
