Take A Walk For Vacation

A walk in the country sounds like a perfect weekend pastime. As a vacation, even better. A company that specializes in just such gentle journeys has among its itinerary walks on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, in Yellowstone Park, in Alberta’s Banff National Park and in the Gulf and San Juan Islands.

Of course there are walks elsewhere in the world, too.

For a free catalog, write Country Walkers, PO Box 180, Waterbury, VT 05676-9906, call (800) 464-9255 or visit the company’s home page on the Web at http://www.countrywalkers.com.

Choo-choo tips: See a train trip in your future? Now you can know before you go all about how train service works. The National Association of Railroad Passengers is offering a free information leaflet about Amtrak service and policies. To get a copy write the Association of Railroad Passengers, 900 2nd St., NE, Suite 308, Washington DC 20002.

An old-fashioned fair: The annual Kittitas County Fair - “Country Roots & Cowboy Boots” - kicks off Aug. 29 for a five-day run at the fairgrounds in Ellensburg.

The event will have all the usual fair activities: livestock and agricultural exhibits, a carnival and country music. Admission’s $5.75, $2.25 for kids. For a fair schedule, call (800) 426-5340.
