Cholera Outbreak Could Be Easing

Compiled From Wire Services

The official death toll from a cholera outbreak rose to eight Sunday, but for the first time since it began last week more people were released from quarantine than ordered into it.

Nationwide, 1,901 people were in quarantine Sunday, slightly more than half the number two days ago. Ninety-two people were confirmed to have the disease, including eight in critical condition.

The small, remote town of Khoetol, where the outbreak began, had 75 victims, more than anyplace else.

Troops continued to patrol the capital, enforcing a ban on street vendors selling food.
