Armed Man Robs Downtown Business

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man armed with a handgun held up a downtown clothing store Sunday.

Witnesses told police the man walked into The Limited, 708 W. Main, about 2 p.m. and took two hair ribbons to the counter.

When the clerk opened the register, the robber pulled out a gun and grabbed cash from the drawer, police said.

He then ran. A customer gave chase but couldn’t catch him.

Police said the man climbed into a brown-and-yellow, 1970s Dodge pickup, which was driven away an older black woman.

Witnesses said the robber is black, in his 20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 180 pounds. He has short hair and a goatee.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Check, 456-2233.
