Copter Catches Fire In Kuwait; Marine Killed

Compiled From Wire Services

A military helicopter caught fire during a routine training mission in Kuwait on Monday, killing one U.S. Marine and injuring three others.

The helicopter, a CH-46 Sea Knight, had taken off from the amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa in the Gulf and was on its way to conduct a training exercise over Kuwait when it caught fire, the Marine Corps said in a statement.

The victims’ names were being withheld pending notification of relatives.

There are about 20,000 U.S. troops deployed in the Gulf region, many of them on ships.
