‘Lost’ Laurel And Hardy On Video

Martie Zad The Washington Post

Six volumes of fresh funnies from the playpen of Laurel and Hardy, completely remastered and containing rarely seen footage, are now available on home video.

For collectors of comedy by Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, which encompasses five generations in every corner of the world, there is plenty of the duo’s innocent and endearing brand of humor, material that has not been seen in three decades.

“The Lost Films of Laurel and Hardy: Laurel and Hardy and Friends” contains six cassettes culled from 30,000 feet of film made from recently uncovered original camera negatives.

The old nitrate film has been revived, restored and remastered by archivist and artist Michael Agee, president of Nostalgia Archives, who in 1993 purchased exclusive rights to all of the “lost” footage.

The Nostalgia Archive videos, $19.95 each, are distributed by Fast Forward Marketing through Critic’s Choice (1-800-383-8811) and range from 97 to 124 minutes long.
