Former Heavyweight Champion Mccall Enters Drug Rehab

Compiled From Wire Services

Former WBC heavyweight champion Oliver McCall of Collinsville, Va., has entered a drug rehabilitation center, his manager said Wednesday.

Jimmy Adams of Bassett, Va., said McCall will remain at Charter Inc. in Winston-Salem, N.C., for at least 28 days. McCall is being treated for marijuana and cocaine abuse, he said.

McCall, 31, is facing drug charges in two states. He was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine in Chicago on July 26, and possession of marijuana in Winston-Salem on April 9. Neither case has gone to trial, and McCall has been free on bond.

Adams said McCall should complete drug rehabilitation in time to train for a planned rematch with England’s Lennox Lewis in October.

French champion Laurent Boudouani knocked out reigning world champion Julio Cesar Vasquez of Argentina in the fifth round to capture the WBA super welterweight title in Cannet-Rocheville, France.
