Gingrich To Campaign In Seattle

From Staff And Wire Reports

House Speaker Newt Gingrich today visits the Puget Sound area for the second time in just over four months to campaign for a Washington state Republican congressman.

Gingrich, R-Ga., will speak at a noon luncheon at a downtown hotel benefiting freshman Rep. Rick White’s re-election campaign.

White, representing the Seattle-area 1st District, is a Bainbridge Island attorney unopposed in the September primary. His Democratic opponent in the November election will be either Don Stuart, an attorney and commercial fisherman, or Jeff Coopersmith, a former deputy prosecutor.

About 200 people are expected at the $150-a-plate luncheon, said Peter Schalestock, White’s campaign manager.
