Valley Ymca Child-Care Program Moves To Adams
The Spokane Valley YMCA child care program is expanding to a new school this fall, enrolling more children.
The program will open afternoons at Adams Elementary School. Kuray Arland, who heads the youth program, expects that will relieve a bottleneck that occurred last year.
A waiting list that began in October for kids who wanted to attend the after-school program at Progress Elementary never really dwindled, Arland said.
The before- and after-school program serves about 250 students at eight sites around the three Valley school districts and in Freeman. Students from other schools are bused to the YMCA sites.
The before-school hours in Central Valley schools are 6:30 a.m. until school starts; in East and West Valley schools the program opens at 6 a.m. After-school hours run until 6 p.m.
