A new officer has been appointed director of the Pierce County sheriff’s cadet program, replacing a man who was fired after being accused of sexual contact with a cadet.
Lt. Eileen Bisson was named to replace deputy Danny Kain, 34. She will institute a five-phase plan to overhaul the program, which gives people 16 to 20 years old a chance to work with regular officers, Sheriff John Shields said in a news release Tuesday.
The overhaul will emphasize high standards, parental participation and accountability, Shields said.
A lawyer for Kain has denied that the 5-1/2-year deputy broke any laws.
