Travelodge Opens New Spokane Hotel

From Staff And Wire Reports

One of the largest franchised hotel chains in North American is back in Spokane.

Travelodge at 33 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday.

Wayne and Mary Paupst of Spokane poured $3.4 million into the Travelodge project. The 80-room hotel includes six suites with in-room spas, a guest laundry, voicemail, and an electronic card locking system. The Travelodge, located 1-1/2 blocks from Spokane’s Convention Center, caters to business travelers.

Travelodge has been represented in Spokane before, most recently at First and Lincoln. Washington Water Power Co. has since converted that property into the Rodeway Inn City Center.

Travelodge has about 500 locations in North America, 100 in England and 25 in Mexico and South America.

In January, Travelodge was purchased by HFS Inc., a franchise company whose hotel holdings include Days Inn, Howard Johnson’s, Ramada, Park Inn, Super 8 and Villager Lodge.

The Travelodge’s 80 rooms will bring the number of hotel rooms in the Spokane area up to 5,080.
