Ncaa Lowers The Hammer On Trojans Running Back

Compiled From Wire Services

The University of Southern California was informed by the NCAA on Friday that tailback Delon Washington, its leading rusher last season, must sit out two more football games for an alleged “ethical violation.” He sat out Sunday’s opener vs. Penn State.

The school said it was appealing, and hoped a hearing would be held on the matter early next week. The Trojans’ next game is a week from today.

Nebraska linebacker Terrell Farley has been indefinitely suspended from the top-ranked football team after being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Friday morning.

Clemson defensive end Trevor Pryce, the school’s top pass-rusher, has been suspended for two games because of an unspecified NCAA rules violation.

Miami running back Danyell Ferguson and receiver Yatil Green have been suspended for the 11th-ranked Hurricanes’ season opener at Memphis today.

On the eve of the opening game of the football season for Boise State, running back Marlin Carey has been declared academically ineligible.
