Robber Slashes Man In Drive-Through Lane At Walgreens Rxpress

A 24-year-old man narrowly escaped serious injury Wednesday night when he was robbed at knifepoint while waiting in his car at a drive-through pharmacy in the Spokane Valley.

Two men who had been standing next to a Dumpster near the drive-up window at Walgreens Rxpress, 12200 E. Sprague, robbed the man while he waited behind several other cars to pull up to the window.

One of the men lunged at the driver when he shut off his car about 10 p.m. and rolled down the window. The robber waved a knife in the driver’s face and demanded his wallet, said sheriff’s Lt. David Wiyrick.

When the victim fumbled for his wallet, the robber became angry and “the guy slashes at his throat,” Wiyrick said. The driver raised his arms to protect himself and was cut on the hand.

“Something like that could very easily be a homicide,” Wiyrick said. “That’s pretty vicious.”

The victim eventually gave the robber his wallet. The two men then fled southwest on foot.

Deputies found the wallet discarded next to a nearby business.

The suspects were described as white males with a medium builds.

One was in his 30s or 40s, had a mustache, short blond hair and was balding on top. He was wearing a blue and white striped shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

The other was about 6 feet tall, and wore a dark baseball cap, black shirt and dark jeans.
