Fire In Jakarta Slum Leaves 1,000 Homeless
Fire consumed at least 160 houses in a slum in central Jakarta, leaving more than 1,000 people homeless, police said Saturday.
Police said no one was injured in the blaze, which was put out in two hours. The cause of the fire was not known.
The fire occurred less than a mile from the site of a meeting of government officials attending a one-day meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
