Ex-Mayor Questioned In Assassination
Prosecutors have questioned a former Mexico City mayor about the assassination of his one-time rival, presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio.
Manuel Camacho Solis was passed over for the candidacy of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party in favor of Colosio, who was gunned down in March 1994 while campaigning near Tijuana.
The attorney general’s office said in a statement late Saturday that it had questioned the former mayor in early November. The statement appeared to be a response to a demand last week by the opposition Democratic Revolution Party that Camacho Solis be included in the investigation.
