The Slice Hey Santa, We’re Ready For Those Rose-Colored Glasses

OK, it’s December. We’ve waited long enough. Here goes.

Dear Santa: A lot of people in the Inland Northwest have been pretty good this year. So how about bringing the region a renewed ability to see all the great things about this area.

And maybe cleaner air and some model railroad sets.

Thanks.

West Kootenai: If it was decided that the city of Spokane and Spokane County couldn’t BOTH use “Spokane” as a name, which would have to switch and what would be the new name?

True colors: Troy, Montana’s Jo Goff offered a helpful hint for anyone else who might have a 2 1/2-year-old granddaughter lock herself in a dark, windowless bathroom.

Slide M&Ms under the door till help arrives.

In this particular case, Goff’s granddaughter was asked what color she wanted first. “Green!” said the little girl.

So an M&M was handed under the door to this kid trapped in the dark. Upon receiving it, the little girl wanted to make sure she was getting what she’d ordered. “Is it green?” she asked.

From the collection plate: “Several years ago, when I was treasurer of our little Baptist church, I was stacking quarters to wrap for deposit,” wrote a Silver Valley resident. “I discovered one was really a heads and tails naked woman. We put in a real quarter and still have the naughty-lady coin as a souvenir.”

If you asked us: It’s flat-out rude to express faint praise for an engagement ring.

So get your enthusiasm cranked up. A big pop-the-question season is just a few weeks away.

This is a concentration problem only if you allow it to be one: Members of the opposite sex seldom look better than they do at church services.

Warm-up questions: To what aspect of life in the Inland Northwest is “Many are called, few are chosen” most applicable? Why do some men name certain body parts? What part of a department store speaks most eloquently to your inner self?

Today’s Slice question: What actor/actress would you like to see play you in a made-for-TV movie, “Ice Storm ‘96?”
