Tests Not Done On Water Systems

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two public drinking water systems in North Idaho violated state environmental regulations by failing to monitor their water for coliform bacteria in July, the Division of Environmental Quality reported Monday.

Both H&D Trailer Court and Scenic Mobile Estates failed to test and notify its customers that the sampling was not done.

Routine testing for coliform bacteria is required of all public drinking water systems to see if the water is considered safe to drink.

The presence of coliform does not mean that the system’s water is harmful to drink, but it does indicate an increased risk of contamination from organisms that could cause disease.

DEQ did not report contamination problems with the two water systems.
