Obituaries

Edward Rivers Cocolalla, Idaho

Memorial service for Edward B. Rivers, 65, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Sagle (Idaho) Baptist Church. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rivers, who was born in Connecticut, died Nov. 19.

He joined the Air Force in 1948 and retired in 1969. He lived in Boise before moving to Cocolalla in 1992.

Mr. Rivers was a member of the Cocolalla Lake Association, Cocolalla Community Club, Bonner Community Gleaners and the Wright Community Congregational Church in Boise.

He won the K&K Fishing Derby in 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; four children, Starla Rivers and Scott Rivers, both of California, Ken Rivers of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Dania Rivers of Boise; a stepson, Noel Kopke of Coeur d’Alene; his parents, Kenneth and Lillian Rivers of Connecticut; three sisters; and six grandchildren.

John Domino Sandpoint

Visitation for John Domino, 80, will be today from noon to 2 p.m. at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel in Sandpoint. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel.

Mr. Domino, who was born in Toronto, died Sunday after an extended illness.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Faye; a son, John Domino of Vancouver Island, British Columbia; a daughter, Elizabeth Aller of Sandpoint; two brothers, Andrew and Peter; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Noressa Skabo Hope, Idaho

Service for Noressa J. Skabo, 90, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Skabo, who was born in North Dakota, died Sunday.

She grew up in North Dakota and moved to Hope in 1971 after retiring.

Survivors include a brother, Norman Skabo of Hope; two nieces, Eleanor Blair of Everett and Evelyn Bruns of Marysville, Wash.; and three nephews, Don Bothne of Everett, James Holter of North Dakota and Robert Holter of Great Falls, Mont.

Berenice Schlatter Spokane

Service for Berenice R. Schlatter, 79, is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Newport (Wash.) Cemetery.

Born in Idaho, Mrs. Schlatter died Sunday.

She graduated from Newport High School and attended Whitworth College.

She worked as a secretary at St. Luke’s Hospital in Spokane and later moved to Idaho. She returned to Spokane and worked at Deaconess Medical Center and retired as executive secretary to the administrator.

She was a member of the Deaconess Auxiliary Her husband, Vern Schlatter, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Adams and Jerry Schlatter, both of Spokane; two daughters, Gail Simmons of Seattle and Linda Gilbert of Woodinville, Wash.; and five granddaughters.

Ellen Wodelman Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Ellen Wodelman, 84, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Wodelman, who was born in Illinois, died Monday. She had lived in Wallace for 45 years before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1990. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Wodelman was preceded in death by her husband, Everette “Tex” Wodelman, in 1992. Survivors include two sons, Bob Evans of Missoula and Jack Evans of Kelso, Wash.; three daughters, Patty Elmore of Athol, Idaho, Betty Westover of Coeur d’Alene, and Diana Greer of St. Regis, Mont.; a brother, LeRoy Worley of Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Beva Giles Kootenai, Idaho

Memorial service for Beva Allen Giles, 99, will be held at a later date. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Giles, who was born in Iowa, died Nov. 26.

She grew up in Iowa and attended schools there. She went on to work as a department store clerk.

Mrs. Giles moved to Glenns Ferry, Idaho, in 1940 and worked as a desk clerk for a hotel before moving to Kootenai in 1962.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Chapter No. 34 in Sandpoint. She served as past worthy matron of Victory Chapter No. 60 and grand electa for the worthy grand matron in 1965.

Mrs. Giles was preceded in death by two husbands: Willard Allen and Ed Giles.

Survivors include a daughter, Naomi Carnegie of Kootenai.

Alice Ward Sagle, Idaho

Visitation for Alice Marie Ward, 29, will be held today from 3-6 p.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Southside Community Church in Westmond, Idaho. Interment will follow at Westmond Cemetery.

Ms. Ward, who was born in California, died Friday.

She moved to Cocolalla, Idaho, in 1975 and attended Southside School and Sandpoint High School.

She had worked at In and Out Painting since 1990.

Survivors include two children, Alec and Alyssia Ward, both of Sandpoint; her parents, Jolyon and Ann Runk, both of Cocolalla; one sister, Virginia Cole of Cashmere, Wash.; and two brothers, William Runk of Cocolalla and John Runk of Virginia.

Mabel (Skantel) Bratton Kellogg

Memorial service for Mabel E. (Skantel) Bratton, 88, will be today at 2 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Bratton, who was born in Red Lodge, Mont., died Sunday.

She moved to Mullan from Montana in 1935 and was a homemaker. She recently moved to Kellogg.

She was preceded in death by two husbands: Joe Skantel and Richard Bratton.

Survivors include a son, Terry Skantel of Mullan; a daughter, Dorothy Zagar of California; a brother, Ronald McDonald of California; two sisters, Helen Schrom of Texas and Margaret Stuts of California; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Mullan Fire Department.
