Kozinski Returns For Gershwin

A familiar face, Stefan Kozinski, returns to Spokane for an all-Gershwin recital on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Davenport Hotel, 807 W. Sprague.

Kozinski, the former associate conductor of the Spokane Symphony, is now living and performing in New York City. This homecoming recital will take place under the 25-foot blue spruce in the elaborately decorated Davenport lobby.

Kozinski will perform Gershwin’s Second Rhapsody and the finale from the Concerto in F.

After intermission, he will play a selection of Gershwin’s own piano versions of such classics as “I Got Rhythm,” “Fascinatin’ Rhythm” and “Oh, Lady Be Good.”

Then Kozinski will play a “Journey for Solo Piano” from “Porgy and Bess,” featuring the tunes from that opera.

The suggested donation is $15, which includes a champagne and dessert reception in the Isabella Room.

For reservations, call Katherine Gellhorn at 624-3591, the symphony box office at 624-1200 or the Davenport Hotel at 455-8888.
