Police Seek Woman Suspected In Burglaries Of Adult Care Centers

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a woman accused of burglarizing several adult assisted-living centers.

Ruth E. Reid, also known as Ruth E. Chamberlin, 38, has been charged with five counts of residential burglary, Detective Dave Martin said.

Between Sept. 14 and Oct. 6, Reid entered apartments in at least six assisted-care centers and stole checks, money and credit cards from elderly residents, Martin said.

Reid wore wigs, posed as a health-care worker and entered the units during lunch hour, said Martin, who refused to say which centers were burglarized.

Reid frequents downtown motels and her last known address was 1940 S. Lawson, said Deputy David Reagan.

Anyone with information about Reid’s whereabouts should call Crime Check at 456-2233.
