Car Struck By Bullet On I-90

Someone shot at and hit a car traveling on Interstate 90 west of Spokane late Saturday, Washington State Patrol troopers said. A nearby house also was hit.

No one was hurt in the 10:45 p.m. incident near the Four Lakes exit, WSP Sgt. Jeff Brumley said.

Troopers found several brass ammunition casings near the scene and dug a bullet out of the car fender, Brumley said. Bullet fragments also were pulled from the wall of the house.

“It appears to be a handgun,” Brumley said.

Troopers suspect the car was the target, and the house was hit by a stray bullet.

Brumley said the shooting doesn’t appear related to a series of sniper attacks that frightened commuters in early November. At least 10 car windows were shattered between Fishtrap and the Valley in the week-long spree. No one has been arrested.

Troopers want anyone who saw a suspicious car or person near the Four Lakes exit, 9:30-10:45 p.m. Saturday to call 456-4101.
