Mother Teresa Stable; Lung Infection Persists

Mother Teresa, who appeared fatigued over the weekend, was doing a bit better Monday, but was unable to walk on her own because of a stubborn lung infection.

The 86-year-old Roman Catholic nun had to be helped by nurses to take a few steps inside the hospital’s intensive care ward.

She is being given antibiotics for her bronchial pneumonia, doctors said, and her chest was being massaged regularly to clear her lungs and aid her breathing.
