Cross-Country Trails Reopened

From Staff Reports

Bolstered by a team of volunteers, Mount Spokane State Park employees cleared more than 200 fallen trees to open the majority of the park’s 13-mile cross-country trail system Wednesday.

Pete Wood, park manager, had closed the ski trials and 60 miles of snowmobile trails on Tuesday.

“We got some rain and wind that unloaded the heavy snow from most of the trees,” he said. “The danger seems to be over. It was pretty quiet up here while we worked.”

The ski trails will reopen today as the groomer goes out to remove more debris.

Wood had no update on the snowmobile trails. “Certainly it will take a while to clear all the blow-downs,” he said.
