Obituaries

Bud Hoagland Priest Lake, Idaho

Private service for Bud L. Hoagland, 66, will be held later. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hoagland, who was born in Parma, Idaho, died Friday.

He was a former Spokane resident and moved to Priest Lake more than 20 years ago. He worked at a lumber mill in Deer Park and also had worked for Max J. Kuney and Murphy Brothers. He retired more than 20 years ago after a work-related accident.

He served in the Army during the 1950s and was a former member of the Teamster’s union in Spokane.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Hoagland of Anchorage, Alaska, and Clifford Hoagland of Chewelah, Wash.; a brother, Dan Hoagland of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Donald Borden Spokane

Memorial service for Donald W. Borden, 65, is set for 10 a.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. There will be private inurnment.

Mr. Borden, who was born in Spokane, died Dec. 2 in Kent, Wash., where he had recently moved.

He graduated from Rogers High School and had lived in Spokane for 55 years.

He was a member of the Navy Air Reserve for 18 years.

He worked for Spokane Kenworth Co. as a shop foreman and diesel mechanic for 14 years and was shop foreman for B&B Truck Service of Spokane for about eight years.

He also worked for Pacific Garages and Inland Transportation and retired as a self-employed diesel mechanic when he was 62.

He also lived in Santa, Idaho, where he built a cabin.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a past master of the Spokane Scottish Rite Consistory.

He is survived by his mother, Alberta Borden of Spokane; two sons, Stephen Borden of Sheridan, Wyo., and David Borden of Spokane; two daughters, Beverly Strom of Spokane and Pamela Preisser of Federal Way, Wash.; a sister, Shirley Pellitteri of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Leanne Wood Spokane

Family memorial service will be held at a later date for Leanne Christine Wood.

Ms. Wood, 39, died Dec. 5 in Mesa, Arizona, while traveling.

She was born in Spokane and attended East Valley High School and Eastern Washington University.

She had previously lived and worked in Alaska. She left Spokane about three months ago.

She is survived by a son, Kristafer Knightlinger of Seattle; her father, Robert Wood of Spokane; her mother, Shirley Lindquist of Juneau, Alaska; a brother, Robert Wood Jr.; and two sisters, Becky Thomas of Juneau and Elizabeth Ione Powell of Post Falls.

Wagn Top Creston, Wash.

Service for Wagn Top, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Creston Christian Church. Burial will be at Creston Cemetery.

Born in Rivie, Idaho, Mr. Top died Monday.

He moved to Creston in 1946 and worked for the town of Creston and drove a bus for Creston School for more than 27 years.

He was a member of the Creston Christian Church, Moose Lodge No. 1925 and Eagles Lodge of Grand Coulee. He was a Boy Scout and had earned the rank of Eagle Scout and Modern Woodsman.

His first wife, Verna Top, died in 1980.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Maggie (Kohler) Top; two daughters, Phyllis Robbins of Hot Springs, Ark., and RaNae Bramlett of Columbia Falls, Mont.; five stepchildren, Gail Kling and Jay Koch, both of York, Pa., Gerry Manz of Spokane; Judy Garrett of Omak, Wash., and Marc Koch of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Norman Top of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sisters, Magda Pace of Phoenix, Ariz., and Edith Keppner of Rigby, Idaho; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

George Mansfield Spokane

Memorial service for George W. Mansfield Jr., 45, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Park Place Retirement Community in Spokane. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mansfield, who was born in Yakima, died Saturday.

He grew up in Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. He attended Spokane Community College, then worked for Key Tronic Corp. He retired due to a disability.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret Collins, and a sister, Janet Batchelder, both of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Spokesman-Review Christmas Fund.

Lynda Hardie Spirit Lake, Idaho

At her request, no service will be held for Lynda Lolita Hardie, 59. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hardie, who was born in Oregon, died Saturday.

Mrs. Hardie lived throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska before moving to Spirit Lake in 1995.

Survivors include her husband, Russell of Spirit Lake; three sons, John Shaw of North Carolina, Thomas Baggett of Arizona and Jim Hardie of Kent, Wash.; three daughters, Debbie Walk and Cheryl Ballew, both of Oregon, and Grace Baggett-Mullins of Montana; her mother, Martha Sisley of Oregon; two brothers, Bill Wade of California and Albert Soterian of Alaska; and a sister, Barbara Mallory of Oregon.
